Terms of Use

Effective date: September 23, 2026. "Aware", "we" and "us" mean the publisher of the Aware AI app named in the App Store listing, reachable at support@awarefood.ai.

1. The service

Aware AI is an iOS app, used with a paid Aware+ subscription, that checks packaged foods against publicly available official information — FDA and USDA FSIS recall and safety publications, product label data (including USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts), decisions published by named regulators about specific ingredients — and against the preferences and household details you enter. Aware AI is an information tool. It never certifies a product as safe, never provides medical, dietary or allergy advice, and never replaces reading the physical package or the official notice.

2. Accounts

Aware works without an account. Creating an account (by email code or as a guest, and with Apple or Google where the app offers them) lets Aware back up your household, pantry and scan history and restore them on another device. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure. A guest account exists on one device only and is lost with it.

3. Your data

What you enter stays yours. You can export it and delete all of it at any time in Settings → Privacy and data; deleting removes it from the device and from your account, and removes the notification record for your phone. Our Privacy Policy (https://awarefood.ai/privacy) explains exactly what is stored and where.

4. Contributions

If you submit information about a product Aware does not recognise, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to review it and, if approved, to show it to other users. Submissions are reviewed by a person before anyone else sees them. Do not submit information you know to be false.

5. Subscriptions

Aware+ is an auto-renewable subscription billed to your Apple Account at the price shown on the plan screen before purchase. Where offered, an introductory free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel in your Apple Account's subscription settings. Payment, renewal and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms.

6. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the service: no attempting to breach its security, no scraping its data at scale, no using it to mislead others about the safety status of a product, and no use by anyone under 13.

7. Information disclaimer

Some text in the app is written by an AI model from the facts on the label and in the sources named: the "Aware says" paragraph, article summaries, and the reading of a photo you take. AI can be wrong; check the package and the source. Recall and alert data comes from official government publications and can lag, change, or be corrected by the issuing agency. Label data reflects the version in the source database and may differ from the package in your hand. Ingredient notes are the published decisions of the named regulator or agency, not our opinion. A result that shows no flags means no flag was found in the sources checked — it is not a statement that a product is safe for you. ALWAYS check the physical package and the official notice before acting. Aware AI is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of the app, and our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be shown in the app before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
